Please follow these steps carefully to ensure your tattoo heals clean, healthy, and stays vibrant.
Aftercare
1. Follow Your Artist’s Instructions
Each artist has a preferred healing method based on your skin type and tattoo. Always adhere to the personalized instructions from your artist, as they essential.
2. Protective Covering
Once your tattoo is completed, it will be covered with one of the following medical-grade options:
-
Tattoo Armour Pad
A breathable, sterile pad protects your tattoo immediately after the session. You can leave it on for 12 to 24 hours.
-
Second Skin (e.g., Saniderm, Derm Shield)
A transparent film that lets your skin breathe while protecting against bacteria and debris. Leave it on for 24 to 72 hours, but remove it sooner if you experience fluid buildup or irritation.
3. Cleaning Your Tattoo
After removing the protective layer:
-
Wash your hands first.
-
Gently wash the tattoo with fragrance-free, antibacterial soap and lukewarm water, incase you don't have that around just use water.
-
Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub or use a towel that could carry bacteria.
4. Moisturizing
-
Apply a thin layer of a recommended healing ointment twice a day for 2 weeks. After that, switch to once daily until the skin is fully healed.
-
Use a thin layer just enough to keep the tattoo moisturized, as excessive application can clog pores and slow down the healing process.
5. Avoid These for the First 4/6 Weeks
To protect your tattoo and prevent complications, avoid:
-
Sun exposure and tanning beds
-
Swimming in oceans, pools, lakes, or hot tubs
-
Soaking in bathtubs or exposing the tattoo to long, hot showers
-
Saunas and steam rooms
-
Heavy sweating or high-intensity workouts that cause friction on the tattoo
-
Scratching or picking — it will itch and peel, but let it heal naturally
6. After Healing: Long-Term Care
Even after your tattoo is healed, always protect it from UV exposure. Sunlight breaks down pigment over time. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen whenever the tattoo is exposed.
Touch-up
Touch-ups are typically not necessary, as each tattoo is designed and executed for optimal healing. However, because the skin undergoes a natural healing process, occasional touch-ups may be required. These are offered at no cost, provided the tattoo has been properly cared for. Touch-up request must be made within two months of the original appointment.
